squirrels are in abundance, but this is Mother Nature at its best.
The course, 6,146 yards, with SSS of 70, and par 71 has a challenging
variety of holes, varying lengths of par 4's and challenging par 5's. It has a
blend of long and short holes which require good course management and careful
shot making decisions have to be made. A couple of ponds come into play, and

Berwick-upon-Tweed, this is a traditional links course which provides a strong
test of your golfing skills. It is rarely badly affected by poor weather and is
therefore playable throughout the whole year. During Winter,
play is always to the full greens, from grass teeing grounds.
The Golf Course at Embleton was laid down as a 9-hole course in 1900.
It became an 18-hole course with the assistance of James Braid in the
1920's. The Men's Club was formed in 1947 and registered with the County
and the EGU. The first Committee consisted of Tom Foggett,
who became the first Secretary and Treasurer, and his father with Norman Laidler and Tom Glendinning.
The first Captain was Dixon Donkin.
Initially, the Club met and had
its lockers in an outhouse at Low Mill Farm, opposite the present
Clubhouse. The Clubhouse which was a First World War Nissen
hut was restricted to use by guests of the Sutherland family, owners of the
Course. The members of the Club were only allowed to use the Clubhouse
after 1952.
