Saturday Coach Ramble – 28 June 2008

SCARBOROUGH to RAVENSCAR (9 miles on the Cleveland Way)

The walk

Following the runaway success of these east coast coach rambles ever since 2001, the club is repeating our first ever walk along the cliff tops of the Cleveland Way, followed by a fish and chip supper.  By using a coach, we will be able to do a linear walk.

Commencing in Scarborough, our path leads us straight up on to the cliffs with dramatic views ahead and out to sea.  The path sometimes drops into a small bay and climbs out on the other side – one such drop in the path passes Mankinholes YHA.  Wild life and sea birds are a frequent bonus on this walk, which ends at the delightfully situated Ravenscar Hotel.  There will be time for a well-earned drink here before we board the coach to return to Scarborough for our fish and chips at the Golden Griddle.

Non-walkers are welcome to join us on the coach for a day at the seaside in Scarborough.

Meeting point and time

We shall meet at 08.45 for a prompt departure at 09.00 from Quarry House. The coach will also pick up at Tadcaster bus station at 9.30.  We expect to return to QH by about 20.30
